We met Robin, aka "RunningBeerGeek", a while back after he told us a lot of running brands didn't appreciate the fact that he's into beer and geeky stuff in addition to running.
We were totally shocked...whaa?!? Who doesn't like craft beers? Who doesn't appreciate geeky stuff like Star Wars and comic books? What kind of running brand wouldn't be into that? Well, we're the kind of brand who IS into fun stuff like Comic-Con and local craft brews. So, naturally we became buddies with Robin.
Describe what RUNNING is to you, in 5 words or less.
It will change your life.
How did you get started running and/or what inspired you to run?
A co-worker of mine came into the office the day after the Chicago Marathon wearing his medal, I had no idea about marathons or running races so I asked him a bunch of questions about running then the following year he invited me to run the Chicago Shamrock Shuffle and I was hooked ever since.
Your favorite running moment?
My favorite running moment so far was running the New York City Marathon in 2014. There was so many great moments during the race but the one that stood out the most was when I was running through Brooklyn and I found my brother and his family and my sister-in-law was so excited to see me running for the first time she started chasing me down the street cheering me on.
Who/what do you think you'd be like today if you did NOT run?
I think if I never fell in love with running I would probably just be the same geeky guy I am today but without running I would never have met so many great people from around the world I now call my friends.
Why do you keep on running? and running and running...
I continue to run because it motivates me to travel the world, run to discover new cities and make new friends around the world.
What is your favorite post run/race indulgence?
Pizza and craft beers!
Oddest, most unusual, weirdest running experience.
I unfortunately haven’t had any....
What?! Who hasn't had any odd or weird running experiences? Well, Robin, maybe it's time you have one at the ET Area 51 Half Marathon later this month.
