An Immersive Sound, Meditation, Yoga, Wellness Weekend -- "Urban Ceremony" -- with East Forest, Jai Sugrim, David Hohme, Elena Brower and Jessica Caplan, at Lightbox in NYC.
"I am honored and lucky to be surrounded by some of the world's most amazing humans doing incredible things..."
One day a couple months ago, my friend Trevor Oswalt, aka musician East Forest, mentioned his vision of doing a collaborative weekend event bridging technology, music, meditation, and wellness. Which happens to be almost all of my passions. I mentioned possibly collaborating with my friends over at Lightbox, NYC's first immersive events space. Next thing you know, this incredible two-day event came together in less than 5 weeks.
Sponsored by KIND Snacks, Mamma Chia, Chameleon Cold Brew, Suja Juice, VitaCoco Coconut Water, Aloha, Lov Organic Tea, & WTRMLN WTR. Please support these healthy, consciously-aligned companies who support people like us doing cool sh*t in the world.
David Lobser and Dan Baker are super talented creative technologists/interactive artists working on some cool VR (Virtual Reality) projects, and projects with the Muse brain sensor headband -- i.e., the perfect collaborators for this kind of immersive wellness event. Trevor had also worked with Elena Brower on her meditation albums, and did the music for her newest meditation series, "Cultivating Spiritual Intelligence".
Trevor is also friends with one of NYC's best yoga teachers, Jai Sugrim, and one of the most talented star house DJ's out there, David Hohme. All these superstar co-creators helped shape the event into smorgasbord of cool experiences and super fun wellness activities, centered around the central theme of bringing together community and ceremony.
(FYI, yes, I do more than just run. I love yoga, which I do about once a week...and meditation has changed my life. But I discovered the life-changing benefits of a meditation practice through my experience with running! This also has a lot to do with the name "OnlyAtoms"...more about that here. I also love dancing, more about that here and here too).
We knew our friends who do sacred space design for events and more -- Liz Blake
, Alexandra Belle
, Zack Ford,
and Eduardo Darancou
-- could transform a mezzanine bar area into an urban oasis, which they did beautifully as seen here:
All the gorgeous woodsy decoration is from our friends at Growing Heart Farm (where they also rent their huge organic farm house out for yoga retreats and group wellness weekends, like Farm To Yoga and other events. It's beautiful and less than a 2-hour train ride from NYC!)
Mei-Yann Hwang (left),who's held circles and tea ceremonies at festivals around the world (and also known for her performances/alter ego as Wang Newton) took a few kinds of Lov Organic tea and created magic with it in her tea lounge, seen below.

The idea of a "Wellness Womb" rounded out the meditation yoga music dance party weekend with massage, reiki, astrology, breathwork, bodywork, sound healing and more from some of NYC top wellness practitioners and energy healers: Lindsay Mack, Krista Annecharico, Izaskun Zabala, James Ray, Jai Sugrim, Dr. Kell Morton, Rabiah Troncelliti, Stacey Sude, Eric Levinson, Kathleen Booker, Natavi Kozicz, Miguel Mendez, Alexander Dunlop, Krystal Perkins and Nicole Henry. (Right, massage, reiki and palm readings):
"One of the best yoga classes I've ever had" (overheard) was taught by Jai Sugrim, with live music by East Forest and immersive visuals by David and Dan:
Couldn't think of a better way to kick off Saturday morning @lightbxnyc immersed through sound by @eastforest and visuals by David Lobser & Dan Baker. Amazing #Yoga Journey led by @jaisugrim ! Next up- wellness womb! Come join for massages, tarot reading, tea ceremonies and we will be closing by Dance Party with David Hohme! #UrbanCeremony #lightboxnyc
Unfortunately, Elena Brower had a last minute family emergency and was not able to lead the live meditation, but we had sound healer and yoga/meditation teacher Jessica Caplan fill in -- she did an amazing job leading a packed-house of +50 attendees to the live music immersive sound meditation on Friday night, seen here:
A Saturday afternoon Cacao Ceremony was led by Sarah Eve Cardell,
with live music:
The night started with a Sound Bath by Sound Alchymist Yunji Shin, music by East Forest:
A Saturday night dance party ended the weekend with a house set by David Hohme:
